Bias disclosure. We make OpenClaw Easy, one of the apps below. Every fact about the other apps comes from their own websites, documentation and GitHub releases, checked on October 6, 2026; we did not rely on third-party roundups. Where another app is the better fit, we say so. If something is out of date, email us.
Which OpenClaw desktop apps exist?
There are eight OpenClaw desktop apps you can download in October 2026. Two are official: the OpenClaw macOS app, a free menu-bar companion for macOS 15 or later, and the OpenClaw Windows Hub, a free, code-signed companion that runs the gateway in WSL. The rest are independent. OpenClaw Easy and ClawX bundle the OpenClaw runtime, so they work without a terminal; OpenClaw Easy targets messaging apps on macOS 12 or later and Windows, and ClawX adds Linux and 20+ channels. EasyClaw and OpenClawDesktop.com install Node.js and OpenClaw onto your system for you. ClawApp, from Sahara AI, is Mac-only and Telegram-first. Claw.so is a paid-tier review cockpit that needs an OpenClaw gateway you already run. All except Claw.so's paid plans are free; you pay your AI provider, or nothing with a local Ollama model.

How to choose
- You want the official app and have a recent Mac: the OpenClaw macOS app (macOS 15 or later).
- You're on Windows and want a signed installer: the official Windows Hub, if you are fine with it running the gateway in WSL.
- You want AI in WhatsApp, Telegram or Slack without a terminal, or have an older Mac: OpenClaw Easy (macOS 12 or later, native on Windows).
- You need Linux, or DingTalk, WeCom or QQ: ClawX.
- You already run an OpenClaw gateway and want to review and approve agent actions: Claw.so.
Each app in detail
OpenClaw macOS app (official)
The OpenClaw project's own Mac app is a menu-bar companion with WebChat, voice and node tools. It needs macOS 15 Sequoia or later and is published with the main OpenClaw releases on GitHub (v2026.9.8, October 3, 2026), as Apple Silicon, Intel and universal DMGs. For local use it installs the OpenClaw CLI runtime; it can also connect to a gateway running elsewhere. See the official macOS docs.
Best for: anyone on a recent Mac who wants the official, MIT-licensed app and is comfortable configuring channels the OpenClaw way.
OpenClaw Windows Hub (official)
The Windows Hub is a separate WinUI companion with signed x64 and ARM64 installers for Windows 10 20H2 and Windows 11. It installs without administrator rights and, on first run, sets up an app-owned WSL gateway, or connects to a remote one. Stable v2026.9.4 shipped on September 15, 2026, with newer alpha builds since. See the official Windows docs.
Best for: Windows users who want the official app and a code-signed installer, and don't mind WSL.
OpenClaw Easy
Our app. It bundles the OpenClaw runtime into a one-click installer for macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel, about 400 MB, signed and notarized by Apple) and Windows 10/11 x64 (about 270 MB, not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen warns on first run). Its setup screens connect WhatsApp by QR code and Telegram, Slack, Discord, Feishu and LINE by token, and it works with your own Claude, OpenAI or Gemini key, a local Ollama model, or optional pre-paid credits with no subscription. Open source under Apache-2.0. Download OpenClaw Easy.
Best for: people who want an AI assistant in their messaging apps without a terminal, and anyone on macOS 12 to 14.
ClawX
ClawX, by ValueCell, is the most-starred independent OpenClaw desktop app (about 7,600 GitHub stars). It embeds the OpenClaw runtime, runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and pitches itself as a 24/7 research assistant that pushes results to 20+ channels, including WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Feishu, DingTalk, WeCom and QQ. MIT-licensed; v0.6.0 shipped September 29, 2026. Its Windows installer is not code-signed. OpenClaw Easy vs ClawX.
Best for: Linux users, Chinese workplace channels, and scheduled monitoring and research tasks.
EasyClaw
EasyClaw is a free, MIT-licensed installer from a solo developer that sets up WSL, Node.js and OpenClaw on your system, with Telegram as its channel and Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI, MiniMax and GLM as AI providers. The latest release is v1.3.43 (May 22, 2026); the Windows build is not code-signed. Paid setup help is offered for ₩50,000.
Best for: Telegram-only setups, especially for Korean-speaking users.
ClawApp
ClawApp, from Sahara AI, is a Mac-only app (v2.0.0, August 7, 2026) that starts you with $1 of credits on Sahara's model endpoint and also accepts your own API keys or Ollama. Telegram works today; other messaging apps are listed as coming soon. Its public repository holds only a README, with no license. Sahara also offers optional $SAHARA token staking.
Best for: Mac users who want to try OpenClaw with free starter credits before adding an API key.
OpenClawDesktop.com
OpenClawDesktop.com is a small Tauri app (about 4 MB) that installs Node.js and OpenClaw on macOS or Windows for you. Its only release is v1.1.0 from June 5, 2026, and its package.json declares the MIT license. The site also sells an $800 one-time setup service. OpenClaw Easy vs OpenClawDesktop.com.
Best for: people who want a tiny installer and an OpenClaw install they can also use from the CLI.
Claw.so
Claw.so ("Claw Desktop", by Pixel ML, Inc.) doesn't bundle OpenClaw. It connects to an OpenClaw gateway you already run, on a VPS, a Mac mini or your own computer, and adds a cockpit for reviewing outputs and diffs and approving risky steps, with runs you can resume from Slack or Discord. Public betas for macOS and Windows have been available since February 2026; the latest is v0.2.0-beta.8 (February 18, 2026). Free for one device; Pro is $19 per month. OpenClaw Easy vs Claw.so.
Best for: existing OpenClaw users who want human review before the agent acts.
We also found nexu, a free MIT-licensed OpenClaw desktop app for macOS and Windows, but its last release (v0.1.12) was in April 2026 and the project looks inactive, so it is not in the table.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official OpenClaw desktop app?
Yes. The OpenClaw project ships a free macOS app (a menu-bar companion with WebChat and voice that needs macOS 15 Sequoia or later) and the Windows Hub, a separate companion for Windows 10 20H2 and Windows 11 with signed x64 and ARM64 installers. The Windows Hub installs without administrator rights and sets up an app-owned WSL gateway on first run. Both are MIT-licensed and published on github.com/openclaw.
Which OpenClaw desktop app works without a terminal?
OpenClaw Easy and ClawX bundle the OpenClaw runtime inside the app, so nothing else needs installing and no terminal is used. The official Windows Hub also avoids the terminal by setting up its WSL gateway itself, and the official macOS app installs the CLI runtime for you. EasyClaw and OpenClawDesktop.com run installers that put Node.js and OpenClaw on your system.
Which OpenClaw desktop app supports older Macs?
The official OpenClaw macOS app needs macOS 15 Sequoia or later. OpenClaw Easy runs on macOS 12 Monterey or later on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. EasyClaw, ClawX, OpenClawDesktop.com and Claw.so also ship Intel and Apple Silicon builds; check each project's own minimum macOS version before installing.
Which OpenClaw desktop apps are free?
The official macOS app and Windows Hub, OpenClaw Easy, ClawX, EasyClaw, ClawApp and OpenClawDesktop.com are free to download. Claw.so is free for one device, with Pro at $19 per month and Team at $49 per month. With any of them you still pay your AI provider per token, or nothing if you run a local model with Ollama.
Is MyClaw a desktop app?
No. MyClaw (myclaw.ai) is hosted OpenClaw in the cloud, from $29 per month with AI tokens billed separately. It has no desktop download, so it is not in the table; it suits people who want their assistant online 24/7 without keeping a computer awake.
